In the dynamic world of digital marketing, the importance of a strong online presence cannot be under-estimated. As a business owner, you've probably heard that showing your face on your business's social media accounts can greatly enhance your brand's visibility and authenticity. However, you might find yourself battling confidence issues when it comes to putting your face out there. In this blog post, I'll explore how to overcome those confidence hurdles and delve into the fundamental benefits of showing your face on your business's social media platforms.
The benefits of showing your face on social media
1. Personal Connection:
Putting your face out there humanises your brand. People want to do business with other people, not faceless entities. By showing your face, you create a personal connection that fosters trust and loyalty among your audience.
2. Building Trust:
In the digital age, trust is currency. When your audience can see the face behind the brand, they are more likely to trust your business. Trust translates into customer loyalty and repeat business.
3. Brand Authenticity:
Authenticity is a powerful brand-building tool. By showing your face, you demonstrate that you stand by your products or services. This builds credibility and can set you apart from competitors.
4. Engagement and Interactions:
People are more likely to engage with content that features a real person. Whether it's comments, likes, or shares, showing your face can significantly boost your social media interactions.
5. Improved Conversion Rates:
Studies have shown that businesses that use personal branding and show faces on social media often experience higher conversion rates. When customers can associate a face with a brand, they are more likely to make a purchase.
Now that I've covered the benefits, let's talk confidence. I just how scary it can be when you have to face the camera and show up for yourself. Before I started my business, I hid behind the camera and purely promoted other brands and their products/services. When I launched KMedia, I knew I had to bite the bullet and start showing up as ME so I know, firsthand exactly how scary it can feel.
1. Make sure you feel your best:
Plan time in your diary to do 'face-to-camera' marketing for your business. If you're feeling nervous, make sure you have time to prep... do your hair. Put on your favourite makeup and lipstick. Play some loud encouraging music while you're getting ready. Anything to make you FEEL your best!
2. Start small:
Nobody expects their first time at anything to be 'perfect' so start by taking baby steps. Not comfortable doing a full talking story? Share a selfie with text overlay. Another tip I always give my clients is to practice! Start recording videos of yourself talking and save them to your camera roll. Look back and find any areas you weren't comfortable with and think of actionable ways to improve.
3. Plan, plan then plan some more:
Not everybody is able to do a full talking story / reel just with ideas off the top of their head. Make a plan. Write down on a piece of paper the content ideas you have and even a script if you feel confident enough to memorise it - but remember, make the video authentic and not a 'robot' voice reading from a piece of paper.
4. Make yourself accountable:
Buddy up with someone! It's so much harder to skip over a task when you have someone else making you accountable. Find another business owner who you already have a good relationship with and set each other tasks and hold each other accountable.
5. Don't give up:
Okay so you've shared your first 'face-to-camera' story, now you're done? NOPE! Schedule these in your work diary, like you would any other client commitment. The worst thing you can do is take an extended break. Trust me, it's harder to get back into the swing of things.
Overcoming confidence issues and showing your face on your business's social media accounts is a crucial step in building a strong and authentic online presence. Remember that authenticity, practice, and support are your allies in this journey. By embracing the benefits of showing your face on social media, you can enhance your brand's personal connection, trustworthiness, and engagement, ultimately leading to greater success for your marketing agency. So, don't let confidence hold you back—step in front of the camera and let your authentic self shine through!
